    Are you obsessed with the power of data to inform high impact decisions? If you know and love working with ETL, data architecture, scripting, and analysis (deep SQL expertise), this may be the right next role for you.

    As the Senior Data Engineer, you will build and maintain the infrastructure to answer questions with data, using software engineering best practices, data management fundamentals, data storage principles, and recent advances in distributed systems. You will seamlessly connect the various systems that support comiXology and Kindle. You will create reporting and analysis that the business will use to measure all aspects of operational performance and cost, and drive both incremental improvement to existing tools and processes and large scale changes in our tools, UI, processes and overall organization. You will create standard metrics reporting and deliver on ad hoc requests.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical field such as Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or similar.
    • 8+ years of experience with data warehouse technical architectures, ETL/ ELT, reporting/analytic tools and, scripting.
    • 5+ years of demonstrated quantitative and qualitative data experience with data modeling, ETL development, and the desire to create and maintain data warehouse systems.
    • Advanced Hands on experience in ANSI SQL with working knowledge of HiveSQL, Spark SQL, or Scala.
    • Advanced Tableau Development Experience.
    • Hands on Perl development experience.
    • Hands on administrative experience in Linux environment with ability to create shell scripts, schedule jobs via crontab, monitor background tasks, and install necessary modules to run Perl Scripts.
    • Familiar with data warehouse schema architectures, such as Star Schema.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research or MBA.
    • Hands on experience with Redshift Database.
    • Proven ability to solve complex quantitative business challenges.
    • Desire to create and build new predictive/optimization tools that benefit the business and improve customer experience.
    • Experience with modeling sequential data, statistical forecasting, and time series models.
    • Experience with one or more of the statistical modeling languages/ toolboxes (R, SAS).
    • Experience in scripting languages for parsing and data analysis.
    • Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, strong attention to detail, excellent organization skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities are critical to success in this position.
    • Proven track record of identifying metric variances and delivering solutions to address the changes
    • Experience managing competing priorities simultaneously and driving projects to completion
