    Would you like to join a team focused on producing high-quality technical publications for Amazon Web Services products? Do you have the software development/deep technical background necessary to maintain Amazon as the premier player in cloud computing and web services technology?

    As a Technical Writer on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) DDoS documentation, you will have the exciting opportunity work with a stellar technical team to produce product documentation in a cross-functional, distributed environment.

To enable this, the technical publications team plays a vital role in getting out customers up and running quickly and making sure that the details of our products are clearly described and easy to follow.

    The ideal candidates have both a technical background that enables them to easily interact with software developers and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical publications.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Drive the development of product documentation for AWS WAF, AWS Shield, and AWS Firewall Manager

    • Independently follow designs and standards to develop and deliver documentation for AWS products

    • Conduct peer edits for grammar, style, and form

    • Help define writing projects

    • Help assess market feedback on adoption of our services

    Basic Qualifications

    • 5+ years of technical communication experience
    • Experience with XML-based publishing systems and experience using multiple documentation tools to write, format, manage, and publish high-quality content
    • Experience writing for the IT Pro and Developer audiences

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science or related field highly desirable
    • Demonstrated ability to write example code or snippets for API reference documentation
    • Hands-on development/coding experience
    • Knowledge and experience with developer-focused platforms, frameworks, and tools
    • Knowledge and experience with cloud technologies, distributed systems, web Services, IaaS, PaaS, or related areas
    • Previous experience working in an agile programming environment a plus
    • Experience with Git or GitHub a plus
    • Experience working directly with engineering teams
    • A thorough understanding of the software development (SDLC)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • A proactive and open-minded attitude toward resolving issues and delivering results
    • Passion to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
