The Business: In Physical Retail Services, we own managing retail store technology for various store formats. Amazon Go is a Just Walk Out format where a customer can shop and leave without worrying about long checkout lines. Amazon Books, Amazon 4-Star and Amazon Popup stores are traditional format stores with fast checkout technology using a purpose build Point of Sale System.
The Team: Physical Retail Shared Services Team owns customer-facing experiences and shared services for Amazon Books, Amazon 4-Star, Amazon Pop-up and Amazon Go stores. This organization is responsible for the following customer-facing experiences: Point of Sale System, Digital Price Tags, Price Check Stations, Digital Upsell and Customer Review Cards. This team also owns physical stores retail services: Customer Identity, Pricing, Promotions, Payments, Ordering, Fraud and Returns. We are building brand new products that will significantly enhance the customer experience in store with innovative solutions. This includes features like online+mobile experiences to help our customers search and discover great selections with ease. We are building both hardware and software products to drive creative in store experiences for customers and associates alike breaking the barriers between online and offline experience. We are optimizing inventory management and supply chain technologies that change how business operations work. And lastly we are doing all of this by integrating with Amazon services designed to massively scale for millions of customers.
The Role: As a leader of the Customer Shopping Experience Team, you will own three strategic areas: Digital Price Tags, Omni-channel Shopping Experience and Retail Store Digital Upsell Shopping Experience. Your teams you will investigate solutions to complex problems, design solutions and work closely with the technical team to implement them. You will play a leadership role by working closely with business teams, technical teams and operational teams alike. You'll need to work well cross functionally, have strong interpersonal and written communication skills, be able to operate successfully both strategically and tactically, and have a strong bias for action.
You should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that’s higher than most projects and relish the idea of solving problems that, frankly, haven’t been solved at scale before - anywhere. You will encounter challenging, novel situations every day and given the size of this initiative, you’ll have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations.
