    This position is a "hands on" Software Architect/Developer role that involves coding.

    Amazon Web Services (AWS) is expanding our presence within our Seaport District/Boston Development Center due to growth. These positions are hands on coding roles and involve leading a small team, projects, code reviews, best practices, interviewing, what ever it takes.

These services-in-the-cloud include on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database, message queuing, and more.

    This position is on the ground breaking AWS Storage Gateway service team http://aws.amazon.com/storagegateway/ AWS Storage Gateway is a service connecting an on-premises software appliance with cloud-based storage to provide seamless and secure integration between an organization’s on-premises IT environment and AWS’s storage infrastructure. The service enables customers’ to securely leverage the AWS cloud for a range backup, archiving, disaster recovery and file sharing use cases. The AWS Storage Gateway supports industry-standard storage protocols that work with your existing applications. It provides low-latency performance by maintaining data on customers’ on-premises storage hardware while asynchronously synchronizing data with AWS cloud storage, where it is encrypted and securely stored in the Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) or Amazon Glacier.

    Basic Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:
    • BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
    • 7+ years professional experience in commercial or web-scale system software development and delivery
    • Experience with object-oriented design and implementation skills (Java, and/or C++), preferably on Linux

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in Agile/SCRUM enterprise-scale software development
    • Deep understanding of scalable computing systems, software architecture, data structures and algorithms
    • Proficient in network, distributed, asynchronous and concurrent programming
    • Proven track record designing, building and delivering high quality software on time
    • Possess a passion for technical leadership and mentoring
    • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Possess strong analytical skills, with excellent problem solving abilities in the face of ambiguity
    • Experience developing storage software with knowledge of storage protocols and high-performance mapping constructs
    • Understanding of storage performance challenges and their solutions
    • Familiar with building secure software and security algorithms
    • Experience building and operating scalable infrastructure software or distributed systems
    • Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment
    • Team leadership experience
