AWS Hardware Engineering (HWEng) sets the standard for functionality, cost and performance for cloud infrastructure. With millions of devices under management, we design, build deploy, maintain health for all AWS production hardware.
But, we’re not resting on our laurels… it’s still the early days for cloud computing, and there are boundless opportunities to continue to redefine the world of infrastructure and storage in particular.
We are currently looking for an AWS Senior Storage TPM for HWEng! How to tell if you’ll love this role: You are passionate about the space, believing that great storage changes the world. You have a unique set of skills and experiences, from program management to product management along with a deep technical background, ideally rooted in storage. You thrive on the day-to-day collaboration with engineers and customers, reaching across team boundaries to make the right things happen. And, finally, with your strong ownership bias, you have an infectious desire to continually improve how things are done.
As an AWS Senior Storage TPM for Hardware Engineering (HWEng), you are the primary owner for the coordination and development of all AWS storage platforms, Elastic Block Store (EBS), Simple Storage Service (S3), and Glacier product offerings.
You will be the primary point of contact between the AWS service owner teams (our internal customers), Engineering development/support teams and our manufacturing partners. Responsibilities span from managing New Product Introduction (NPI) to fleet quality and sustaining.
In this role, you will be responsible for the “cradle to grave” product lifecycle development, engaging in all activities ranging from future roadmap development and new concept design through product qualification and mass production ramp, working closely with internal teams including HW Development, Firmware Development, Manufacturing Test, Quality and Reliability, Infrastructure Supply Chain and Procurement, Data Center (DC) Capacity Planning, DC Operations, and many others. Throughout the development process, you will be the overall owner for the program(s), responsible for defining the product development and qualification plan and schedule, and ensuring proper execution, delivering results to enable our internal customers and end users to continually launch new services and exciting new technologies on schedule and within budget, while delivering continual improved performance, reliability and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
As the primary point of contact both internally to HWEng and the AWS Service owner teams, a strong TPM candidate needs to have excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills, being able to work through complex problems with a large number of cross functional teams around the globe. Senior TPMs will regularly deliver program updates to senior and executive leadership, both within HWEng and the service owner teams. This requires both excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills, and an ability to clearly and accurately provide updates on complex programs and technical issues, demonstrating a strong working knowledge of many facets of our larger organization and the ability to earn trust and drive open issues to closure.
