Amazon Web Services offers a playground of opportunities for software mavericks to build and guide Amazon’s cloud thinking in the infrastructure (Infrastructure as a Service), platform (Platform as a Service) and software (Software as a Service) domains. We come to work every day with a passion for code and an obsession for helping other software developers solve their hardest problems. If that sounds a lot like you, then read on …

How would you like the opportunity to be a single threaded engineering leader that owns the cloud software leader’s primary content management system (CMS) in its entirety? Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a single threaded engineering leader to own the infrastructure and all the experiences that go into its primary developer/customer facing website: aws.amazon.com and other marketing channels (emails, social media, etc). If you are up to this challenge, we would love to talk to you.

We are looking for a leader who enjoys diving deep into the world’s most challenging software challenges and relish the opportunity to work with a team that insists on the highest standards in architecting, developing and deploying everything they build. Specifically, we are looking for a broad leader who will own and drive the engineering for the CMS efforts in the AWS Marketing organization, ensuring four 9s availability, impenetrable security and a world class performance in the services we build and own.

This role will take on the daunting task of managing a complex CMS system composed of Adobe’s CQ and Experience Manager (AEM) products along with a home grown sleuth of custom engineered CMS extensions to work at the scale of AWS services and guide the engineering team to effectively scale & support the organizational needs.

The role is Seattle based (with full support for relocation) with less than 5% required travel.

    Basic Qualifications

    • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
    • 4+ years of hands-on software development/architect experience (as an individual contributor)
    • 6+ years of managing large software engineering teams, collaborating across teams and customers (as a manager)
    • Knowledge of content management systems & current industry offerings in the CMS space

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Able to prioritize well, communicate clearly and understand how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with strong, talented, and opinionated teams.
    • Built or led the engineering of a content management system either on-premise or in the cloud
    • Has extensive experience in cloud software stack and open source tooling.
    • Has a track record of building large scale, distributed systems & web farm applications
    • Has demonstrated that they have succeeded in delivering measurable customer value in an extremely volatile growth environment where priorities shift rapidly.
    • Has demonstrated a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive in their current and past projects.
