    Amazon Web Services (AWS) Hardware Engineering is a fast growing and leading-edge research and development team that creates enterprise compute and storage server designs for our innovative web service and e-commerce technology platforms. Our designs are industry-leading in terms of performance, frugality and operational excellence, and are critical to the success of the AWS business and the hundreds of thousands of customers who use utility computing today. We are seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to build the next generation of our cloud platforms. Our success depends on our world-class server infrastructure; we’re handling massive scale and rapid integration of emergent technologies.

    What you will do: As a member of the Server Hardware Thermal/Mechanical Engineering team you’ll be responsible for the design of our server platforms. You’ll provide leadership in the application of new technologies to large scale server deployments in a continuous effort to deliver a world-class customer experience. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you’ll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. You’ll have high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve your products performance, quality and cost. We’re changing an industry, and we want individuals who are ready for this challenge and want to reach beyond what is possible today.

    Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
    · 5+ years of server industry experience
    · In-depth mechanical/thermal lab experience: setting up prototypes, instrumentation and running thermal tests
    · In-depth experience in compute and storage server thermal architecture and design for large scale applications.
    · Experienced in the ability to deliver server hardware products in a multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility environment

    Preferred Qualifications

    · Experience in compute and storage server architecture and design for large scale applications.
    · Experience in component selection and procurement.
    · Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
    · Experience eveloping functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
    · Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
    · Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.
