    Interested in Amazon Echo and Alexa? Come work on it! Our team is building new voice-forward Alexa experiences that delight our customers. Our mission is to push the envelope in automatic speech recognition (ASR), natural language understanding (NLU), and voice user interfaces (VUI) in general in order to provide the best possible end user experience.

    The Editorial Manager for the Alexa International team will be responsible for driving the personality of Alexa in the Canadian marketplace. This role centers around creating the marketplace-specific strategy around how Alexa’s persona, voice, or tone needs to shift in order to make Alexa feel more natural for Canadian customers. They will serve as the primary POC for all Alexa Personality experiences for Canada. They will drive the personality experience strategy, manage internal and external intake and content generation processes, and tactically execute on prompt creation and/or content editing. Additionally, this person will work to innovate new, customer-obsessed content experiences to continue to surprise and delight customers. They will also have the responsibility of providing quantitative and qualitative data-driven insights on how their programs are operating, and analysis of how to improve experiences based on those insights.

    This position requires superior communication skills and the ability to reach across teams to develop healthy working relationships with other areas of the Alexa organization. They will operate with significant autonomy and discretion, demonstrating high-judgement capabilities. This person keeps the customer experience at top of mind when making decisions. They work to improve processes within the team, handle high volumes of work, and high-pressure situations with ease.

    Basic Qualifications

    • 8+ years of professional experience as a UX Writer, Content Strategist or other content-focused role
    • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Creative Writing or a related field
    • Experience working cross-team and synthesizing feedback and input from product management, engineering, and marketing
    • Experience presenting to and advising senior management
    • Fluency in Canadian French
    • Advanced knowledge of Canadian culture



    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with voice or multimodal speech interfaces
    • Experience with speech and language technologies, e.g. voice user interfaces (VUI), speech recognition (ASR), language understanding (grammars or NLU), text to speech (TTS)
    • Experience shipping innovative, successful consumer voice products
    • Past experience in designing or launching novel experiences and/or interaction paradigms for consumer products (software or hardware).
    • Experience with agile/scrum
    • Unwavering attention to detail with an acute awareness that everything counts
    • Relentless desire for innovation, balanced with business needs, and customer expectations
    • Committed to learning and expanding professional and technical knowledge
    • Background in script writing, creative writing, or game design is a plus
