    Data Center Global Services (DCGS) is looking for a full-stack software
    developer/architect for a platform hosting web tools for a variety of data
    center operational tasks. This flexible, open-ended program can evolve into whatever our (internal) customers need. Your ideas and solutions can have a huge impact. Experimentation is encouraged. Our platform uses Unix, Rails, JavaScript, and MySQL. In the future, we will likely add Android, iOS, and Java.

    Job Summary
    You will be the first, full-time, developer/architect on a small, growing
    team. Your customers will include managers and blue collar workers. You will help automate and simplify their processes. Your responsibilities may include:
    • Imagine user-friendly solutions to tedious problems.
    • Incorporate new capabilities, databases, and virtual data stores.
    • Explain alternative solutions and tradeoffs to managers and customers.
    • Expand a simple, Domain-Specific Language (DSL) to accommodate new features.
    • Create a simple content management system.
    • Create simple user interfaces, possibly with drag-and-drop flowcharts and a WYSIWYG editor.
    • Communicate with internal AWS databases and services through their APIs.
    • Train others, including programmers and technical writers.
    • Design an automated test system.
    • Design meaningful metrics and reports.
    • Help our team and our customers grow.
    • Potential travel domestically and/or internationally up to 10% of the time

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software, or other programming focused discipline
    • 2+ years experience with Linux/Unix
    • 2+ years experience with Full Stack Ruby on Rails.
    • Knowledge of database systems and SQL.
    • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures
    • Computer Science fundamentals in problem solving, and complexity analysis
    • Proficiency in a general purpose, modern programming language such as Java

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 3+ years professional experience in software development
    • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
    • Knowledge of algorithms
    • Ability to drive consensus on technical design within the team and across teams.
    • Experience in system architecture and web application design.
    • Experience in launching applications globally.
    • Ability to build solutions that scale and perform.
    • Familiarity with electrical units and concepts
    • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 10% of the time
    • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
    • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
