The Database Services team within AWS is responsible for setting the database strategy and delivering distributed database services to AWS customers to meet both their relational and non-relational database needs. Today, the team delivers services including Amazon RDS, Amazon DynamoDB, RDS Aurora, Amazon ElastiCache, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Elastic Map Reduce, and Amazon QuickSight. It is still day one for our Database Services businesses. Over the next few years, together they will represent a very large business for Amazon. We are looking for an experienced Sr. Technical Product Manager to help us grow the business by defining and delivering industry leading next generation database services architected for the cloud. This position within Database Services team represents a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor within a fast growing business and help shape the technology, product and the business. A successful candidate must be able to engage internal and external customers and other product managers to identify new product opportunities, define & design product features, and working closely with development teams to get those in to the hands of customers. Successful applicants will have experience defining products, extensive experience in leading diverse, cross-functional teams, and will meet a high technical bar. You will need to be able to communicate clearly and compelling at all levels of the company.

5+ years of software Product Management experience in a related industry
1+ years writing SQL queries or using Business Intelligence (BI) systems
Experience building and managing business models, defining customer & market segmentation, and setting pricing
Experience designing products and iterating through rapid product cycles
Experience constructing messaging and managing demand generation programs
Knowledge of service-oriented architecture, product development, and project management
An undergraduate degree in Computer Science (or the equivalent), or professional work experience as a software engineer is a plus
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects
Has passion and convictions and the innate ability to inspire passion in others
Has relentlessly high standards (is never satisfied with the status quo)
