    As a Technical Writer in Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will have the exciting opportunity to work with a stellar technical team to produce product documentation in a cross-functional, distributed environment.

To enable this, the technical publications team plays a vital role in getting our customers up and running quickly and making sure that the details of our products are clearly described, as well as easy to consume and follow.

    The ideal candidates have both a technical background that enables them to easily interact with Software Design Engineers, Product Managers, and Technical Program Managers, and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical publications.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Drive the development of product documentation for Amazon security services, such as Amazon Inspector and for our certificate service, AWS Certificate Manager
    • Independently follow designs and standards to develop and deliver documentation for AWS products
    • Write or manipulate example code and samples to support documentation
    • Help define writing projects

    Basic Qualifications

    • A minimum of 5 years in a technical writing role
    • Experience writing for system administrator or developer audience
    • Experience in basic security concepts, such as authorization, authentication, common security vulnerabilities
    • Proven experience using and following a style guide
    • Experience using multiple documentation tools to write, format, manage, and publish high-quality content
    • Experience with XML-based publishing systems

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science or related field highly desirable
    • Experience in encryption technologies, such as public key encryption (PKI)
    • Experience with Web Services, IaaS, PaaS, or related areas is a plus
    • Previous experience working in an agile programming environment a plus
    • Experience with Git or GitHub a plus
    • Experience working directly with engineering teams
    • Strong grammar skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • A thorough understanding of the software development (SDLC)
    • A proactive and open-minded attitude to resolving problems and delivering result
