The Corporate Systems team mission is to deliver robust, highly available, and easy to use services to our internal customers across the global enterprise. We are looking for an administrator who is an expert in deep-dive understanding of the Windows Operating System, with a focus on automation, high availability and remote managed services. As a Systems Engineer you will help design and build the future of server and client maintenance automation at Amazon while working closely with the current global infrastructure. To be successful in this position you must have a strong desire to automate, lead, and be comfortable taking initiative.
You will be responsible for implementation, monitoring and maintaining the server and client systems that all Amazonians depend on. This role will also likely include capacity planning, project coordination, and providing on-call technical support.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 5+ years relevant work experience.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
3+ years supporting Microsoft Active Directory in an Enterprise Environment
1-2 years supporting Microsoft Exchange or other Collaboration Suite (1,000 users or more)
Demonstrable expertise around specifying, designing, and/or implementing system health, performance monitoring tools, and software management tools for 24x7 environments.
Demonstrable experience with TCP/IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols. Such as: DNS (Active Directory and BIND), DHCP, NTP, SMTP, SNMP, and SIP.
Knowledge of Server and Infrastructure Backup Methodologies and Practices
1-2 years Administrating Linux-based systems
Extend existing automation and system management tools and processes that reduce manual efforts and increase overall efficiency.
Strong leadership skills and a successful track record of driving projects to completion
Demonstrable track record dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment
Clear, professional communication skills able to contribute to team discussions, knowing when to contribute, when to listen, and when to ask questions.
Knowledge of and experience with Configuration Management Process such as IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) in an Enterprise Environment
Able to create and collaborate with others on the creation and maintenance of technical documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures, Runbooks, Job Sheets, etc.
Demonstrable knowledge designing and troubleshooting authentication solutions using PKI.
Experience with IT Security Vulnerability Management tools such as eEye Retina or Nessus
Ability to program to solve problems and automate repetitive tasks in a common scripting or programming language such as Python, Ruby, Perl, PowerShell, and/or VBScript.
