Job Description

Audible is looking for a talented individual to join our team of editors as we unleash the power of the spoken word, and create original content written to the audio form. We seek to dramatically increase content written specifically to the Audible format and listening aesthetic. In pursuit of this goal, we’re looking for an editor with the talent, drive and passion to deliver outsize results as we endeavor to build an editorial business around the oral tradition – one that has engaged listeners for centuries, and has helped define Audible’s mission for the last two decades.

  • Drive the growth and elevate the quality of Audible original content that is specifically written for the audio format.
  • Be a key part of a team of high-powered editors that will develop projects, recruit and work with writers from across the profession to create remarkable Audible books, projects, programs, and series.
  • Use high business and creative judgment to make consistently good content investment decisions on the behalf of the customer and the business.
  • Coordinate effectively among cross-functional teams, particularly Audible’s production and marketing teams
  • Support the senior editorial team in executing administrative tasks related to content creation

Basic Qualifications

  • 1-3 years’ experience developing, acquiring and/or editing longform content, and/or other applicable editorial experience
  • Relevant and appropriate educational background
  • Demonstrated talents and success as a creative, innovative thinker and doer
  • Willingness to take on any/all tasks related to content development, coordination and creation.
  • Evident passion for blazing a new trail as Audible continues its mission to unleash the power of the spoken word.
  • A record of being a visionary with a focus on customer obsession. You delight in disrupting the status quo.
  • Ability to prosper in a high-energy, high-intensity and rapidly evolving environment under tight deadlines, with a demonstrated success in driving results.
  • Comfort using data analytics to shape business strategy, alongside well-honed instincts for great content that will delight listeners
  • A love of narrative storytelling and well-wrought prose, and a talent for translating writing into powerful spoken words.
