As a Rendering Engineer on our project you will be working with an industry leading engineering, design, and art team to produce a game that amazes our players. You will have direct access to a large number of Amazon engineers whose expertise spans from rendering all the way to machine learning and cloud compute.

The Role:
  • Be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced graphics technology.
  • Research cutting edge rendering techniques & algorithms then drive practical implementation of them.
  • Collaborate with the Lumberyard rendering team to leverage their technology for our game and share your technology back for everyone to use.
  • Work with content creation teams to implement features and pipelines for our game.
  • Identify bottlenecks in the content pipeline to streamline the ability for the creative teams to accelerate.
  • Drive design and architecture decisions that results in strong balance of performance, flexibility, and maintainability.
  • Assist in developing project plans and commitments, and then deliver consistently against those commitments.
  • Help drive the architecture and technology choices that enable a world-class user experience.
  • Be a champion for the user: Insist on the highest standards, and create functional and engaging features that delight customers.
  • Help turn big ideas into cool new features.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, working on multi-discipline teams.
  • At least 1 released realtime 3D game on which you were a primary contributor to the rendering engine. Self-published titles are acceptable.
  • Strong 3D math skills
  • Detailed knowledge of DirectX 11/12, OpenGL, Vulkan, or Metal
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Advanced software engineering skills, including the ability to write expert-level, maintainable, and robust code in C++.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively on shared projects with designers, artists, testers, and other developers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of game development experience with multiple shipped titles.
  • Multiple shipped AAA 3D game title(s)
  • Specialized skills in a particular area of game development related to the client experience and visualization
  • Experience developing successful 3D game engines and rendering systems
  • Experience in shader languages
  • Experience with deformable and destructible terrain
  • Experience with long range visualization in large worlds
  • Skilled at developing world class tools to support game systems.
  • Experience working on large scale, commercial online game services.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum/Kanban.
