The perfect candidate will be an experienced technologist who possesses a mix of deep depth in Satellite Ground Systems and Operations, Development Operations, Networking, Domain Systems Engineering, and Customer Obsession. Come help our talented team scale for the largest, most demanding customers on the planet.

As a technical leader you will work on mission-critical infrastructures, tools, and processes that enable our systems to scale at a rapid pace. You will be responsible to investigate and create new systems for scaling development and production. The perfect candidate will be comfortable with software development, networking and distributed architecture topics. You should have enthusiasm for digging deep and a flare for sharp technical communication, prioritization and organization.

Together, we’ll deliver the next generation of industry-leading cloud-based ground station services and help space businesses run on the cloud. We will design highest-capacity and secure ground infrastructure and terminals coupled with AWS international network to extend the reach and accessibility of AWS to space. We’ll design, develop, and deploy the most scalable and distributed ground station network in the world. We’ll shape not just our own products, but the direction of the industry through our choices!

Have a strong understanding of Software Development, Linux, Digital Signal Processing, Satellite Ground System and Networking Technologies. The ideal candidate will have past experience working as a systems or software development engineer with networks, satellite systems, and satellite ground systems. You will also have a strong level of knowledge in Linux. You will enjoy keeping your technical skills reasonably current, to the point that you can still contribute to architecture discussions. You will like to build systems and networks that bring AWS to the edge. You regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.

Know how to run a tight, lean, efficient operation. The right candidate will want to measure everything and use data to drive decision. He/she will excel at using metrics, monitoring, and alarming to measure and improve the operational processes and performance of their team and the availability of their system.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of software and systems engineering experience
  • Minimum 15+ years of space command and control, space ground systems, attitude determination and control software experience
  • Advanced understanding of digital signal processing, antennas, and automated ground system development and operations
  • Advanced understanding of satellite communications and protocols
  • Advanced understanding of the Linux operating system
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices for network and system management
  • Demonstrated understanding of highly available environments, both locally and in the cloud
  • Able to learn new technology quickly, become the expert, solve the problem and teach others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep domain experience in ground systems, sensors and remote ground system design
  • Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design and problem solving
  • Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency and drive
  • Development or Systems Administration in Linux/Unix environment.
  • Experience across the networking stack from load balancers down to TCP/IP
This position requires that applicant selected be a U.S. citizen and obtain and maintain a TS/SCI US Government clearance with polygraph. TS/SCI eligibility is not required to start; however, the applicant selected will be subject to a Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified national security information. Applicants with a current SSBI, SBPR, or PPR, may be eligible for crossover in accordance with ICPG 704.4.
