Job Description

The AWS EC2 Capacity Planning Team manages AWS EC2 supply and demand management systems. This includes customer capacity planning, systems innovation, product transitions, new region capacity planning and continual improvement to our demand management models. The team defines tool requirements and create processes that automate and optimize all aspects of demand planning. Members of the EC2 Capacity Planning team handle much of the heavy lifting of making sure that large scale projects for EC2 are running efficiently and effectively. This role requires working with professionals in many different domains including Finance, Engineering, and Product management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Data Center Planning and Sales.
We are looking for a strong BIE leader to drive and support our new programs such as shifting demand across from one product to another for higher utilization of assets, optimizing safety stock, creating controlling mechanisms for forecasting. In addition to these new programs, BIE leader will partner with other program managers in creating metric dashboards and making deep dives.
The successful candidate will be a person who enjoys diving deep into data analysis, discovering root causes, and designing long-term solutions. You will help customize business policies and processes while developing new metrics and functionality. Additionally, the candidate should be an effective communicator capable of independently driving issues to resolution and communicating insights to non-technical audiences. This is a highly impactful and autonomous role with goals that directly impact the bottom line of the business.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in analytical area such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or related discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant experience with data mining, SQL, and statistical modeling
  • Experience writing scripts (Perl and/or Python) to manipulate data
  • Strong knowledge of Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or higher degree in analytical area such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or related discipline
  • Experience with contemporary BI technologies such as Tableau
  • Experience developing software in traditional programming languages (C++, Java, Ruby)
