At Goodreads, our mission is to help people find and share books they love. By partnering with Kindle and Amazon, we also aim to elevate the reading experience and improve publishing and book marketing tools for authors. As a Senior UX Designer, you’ll be part of the team responsible for research, design, and implementation of these products and services. In return, you’ll have an opportunity to learn about the business of books and publishing, about the unique design challenges of a social experiences like Goodreads, and work alongside highly talented team of designers, developers, and product managers.

We are looking for a designer who can:
  • Create world-class, user-centered designs through consideration of market research, business requirements, customer feedback, and usability study findings
  • Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, and prototypes for user interfaces
  • Responsibly and effectively advocate for the customer, fostering a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, content, business and marketing values
  • Scope design initiatives and manage/prioritize your own work items
  • Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and Goodreads and Amazon executives for review and feedback


Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional design experience as a UX designer or similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design or UX-related fields
  • Ability to manage and refine the workflow, design and approval processes
  • Ability to work with cross-disciplinary partners, synthesizing feedback from product management and development
  • Experience managing multiple projects at one time to meet ambitious deadlines, and the ability to work with remote collaborators
  • Design experience on tablet, mobile, or television consumer devices
  • Expertise with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign or their functional equivalents
  • Experience with design tools, such as InVision, Sketch, and Omnigraffle

  • Ability to extract complex concepts and quickly turn around rigorous flows and mockups reflecting a range of options
  • A constant desire for innovation balanced with business needs and customer expectations
  • Unwavering attention to detail with an acute awareness that everything counts
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in an agile environment
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and great attitude, enjoy engaging with multiple stakeholders to understand and solve challenges
