Job Description

Join the Alexa Machine Learning team, help us build the speech recognition and natural language understanding solutions behind Amazon Echo and other Amazon products and services. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for the development and launch of core platform technologies which will be also used in production.
As an Applied Scientist on the Alexa Deep Learning Team, you will design and develop fast, efficient, and highly scalable machine learning platforms and algorithms applied to speech recognition and natural language processing problems.
You will gain hands on experience with Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources; as well as large-scale computing systems to accelerate the training of deep neural networks for automatic speech recognition and other tasks on thousands of hours of speech.
The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering experiences that delight customers. A commitment to team work and strong communication skills are absolute requirements. Creating reliable, scalable, and high performance products requires willingness to develop deep technical expertise, sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience in building large-scale distributed systems.

Basic Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, related technical discipline, or related industry experience
· Hands-on experience with machine learning and in particular deep learning.
• Deep knowledge of the fundamental ML techniques and algorithms development
• 1+ years of software development experience
• 1+ years of experience in state-of-the-art machine learning and statistical modeling techniques
• Proficiency in C/C++, python
Excellent communication, design and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • PhD in machine learning, computer science or related discipline
    • 1+ year of industry or postdoctoral experience with machine learning
    • 3+ years of experience in speech recognition or natural language understanding
    • Experience with distributed systems for training deep neural networks
    • Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
    • Strong, object-oriented design and coding skills
    • Proficiency in GPU Programming / CUDA
