Job Description

Alexa is the Amazon cloud service that powers Echo, the groundbreaking new Amazon device designed around your voice. We believe voice is the most natural user interface for interacting with the home and is fundamental to enabling the dream of the smart, connected home.

We're seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager for the Alexa Skills Kit team. In this role, you will wear many hats; you must possess a unique combination of strong technical skills and business acumen as well as a do-what-it-takes attitude. You will need to be a strong leader, able to communicate clearly and compelling at all levels of the company. You will be expected to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams. If this sounds like you, we’d like to speak with you.

A successful candidate will have strong passion for customers and developers and experience in understanding and presenting platform strategies. You must have a background in solutions integration, software development and product management, specific to complete platforms and ecosystems. You must be highly analytical, able to work extremely effectively across multiple organizations, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into high quality, simple products and applications that customers love.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Technical Program Management experience in a related industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field
  • Experience in coordinating cross-functional teams in both hardware and software engineering
  • Experience managing the introduction of new technologies
  • Experience developing, reporting and continually improving business processes and policies as well as metrics and indicators of success

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record for managing complex technology projects with aggressive schedules and scarce resources
  • Experience in communicating with internal and external technology partners and management to collect requirements, evaluate alternatives and develop processes and tools as needed to drive projects
  • Solid foundation in new product introduction to be able to understand inter-dependencies and drive towards technical solutions for multi-tiered projects
  • Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with speech-related hardware systems
  • Experience in the embedded computing, IoT and voice processing
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment
