Job Description

The Amazon Homepage Team is looking for a software developer to help build a new technology platform that will be a key reference architecture for our entire consumer website. Our team owns the homepage of Amazon worldwide and we are part of a cross-team initiative to increase customer engagement and to develop Amazon as a single-stop shopping destination for customers. To accomplish it, we are bringing together machine learning techniques and the latest software development advancements to create an innovative software development platform that empowers engineers to easily create and deploy new features worldwide.

As our software engineer on Amazon’s Homepage Team you’ll develop proof-of-concepts then iterate and improve on them, deploying new features into production via an agile development lifecycle. Successful candidates will have the ability to communicate clearly, deliver extensible solutions, and solve complex architecture and business problems.
This is considered one of the foremost roles in software engineering because of your ability to reach hundreds of millions of active customers globally for one of the world’s most trafficked sites and allow this level of autonomous developmental impact on a highly consumer facing product.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience in a modern programming language such as Java or C++.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS and Javascript.
  • 5 - 8 years professional experience in software development building reliable, scalable software.
  • Knowledge of full-cycle software engineering best practices including code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operational support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Mobile app and mobile-web development experience.
  • Experience with React.
  • Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems including AWS and other cloud technologies.
  • Experience mentoring junior software engineers.
